I came across Ritual Disks in the famous China exhibition “Cina, nascita di un Impero” in Rome. I was especially fascinated by the Bi-disks. These were given to high-ranking officials as rank insignia by the emperor and were buried with them. During my research, I came across other ritual disks, including those from the Liangzhu and Maya cultures. The disks were originally made of jade, bronze or other materials.

My Bi-disks combine material, structure and movement to create still, circular compositions. Between the surface and the depth, works are created that absorb and reflect light, color and form in a special way. Their reduced, yet powerful presence opens up a poetic dialogue between the object, the space and the observer.

The rotating selection of artifacts displayed here is intended to give visitors a sense of the diversity of my ceramic work.
