Tripods

I draw inspiration for the Ritual Vessels from, among other sources, Chinese drinking vessels dating back to the 9th century BCE—specifically those of the Western Zhou, Eastern Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties—as well as from ancient Egyptian civilization and the Asian art sections of renowned museums. They embody memories of ritual culture, hospitality, and ceremony. Their archaic forms combine simplicity with symbolic power and speak of a millennia-old relationship between people, vessels, and communal enjoyment. With their serene presence, they appear both timeless and vibrant. I am constantly fascinated by the challenge of recreating these vessels—often originally cast in bronze or other materials—through my work in clay.

The rotating selection of artifacts displayed here is intended to give visitors a sense of the diversity of my ceramic work.
